Mr G’s Bar & Grill (New York Style) at the Intercontinental Double Bay

Opening it’s doors in the opulent Intercontinental Double Bay, Mr G’s is a trendy take on an American New York style Steakhouse. Mix this with a killer cocktail menu & bar and you have yourself a popular eatery. Naturally we had to check it out. First up is the Damn Good Corn Bread. Baked daily in house, this fluffy pillow is flavoured with chilli and maple syrup.

Yay Science 26

This ingenious cocktail mixed science and deliciousness with a mix of Malfi Gin, Lillet Blanc and Fee Bro’s Rhubarb Bitters. Add to that the magics of science and you get Spherical Green Chartreuse Olive Pearls that burst in your mouth like a delicious alcoholic olive.

Aunt Mavis’s Favourite 23

This zinger of a cocktail is the perfect drink to warm yourself up during these cold nights. Made with Fireball Whiskey, yellow chartreuse, pumpkin curd, gingerbread syrup and lemon, all topped with a cinnamon sprinkled pie crust.

Alaskan King Crab Cocktail 28

This gorgeous goblet is filled to the brim with 100% natural Alaskan crab meat, Marie rose sauce, avocado & shredded iceberg lettuce.

The juicy crab meat is abundant and sweet. Tossed in a rich creamy sauce you’ll be licking the glass clean.

Beef Carpaccio 24

This work of art is a plate of thinly pressed Cape Byron eye fillet sprinkled with a rainbow of Summer pickled vegetables, shaved parmesan and seasoned with fragrant truffle oil & rosemary salt. A really great dish.

Short Rib 400g 39

This succulent hunk of Angus beef is marinated in a mouthwatering chilli, bbq & miso rub and slow braised for 3-4 hours. Served with a side of creamed corn and pickled tomato this monster dish was easily the favourite savoury of the night.

Wagyu Burger 29

Talking about monsters, this NY style burger was chockers full of lettuce, American cheddar, maple bacon, pickles, Gallagher’s special sauce and a juicy tender beef pattie.

Served with fries, this one stop shop of a burger was everything to me.

American Fudge Brownie 18

Until this brownie hit the table. Without sounding like a wanker, this baby took me to a galaxy far far away. Rich, moist and chewy, this was an absolute delight to devour.

A Little Pumpkin Pie

This should definitely be A LOT of Pumpkin Pie. Creamy and silky, the crust and candied pumpkin seeds were a nice contrast to the pumpkin filling.

If you’re looking for a fantastic meal out, Mr. G’s is the perfect place. Classy enough for a special occasion, yet casual enough for a simple weekend lunch or dinner. If you’re not in the mood for solids, their cocktails are absolutely outstanding. Defs go bro.
