The perfect feed doesn’t get much better than this. The warmer weather calls for sweet pastries, fresh fruit, cold beverages, and all other things that sum up to a quintessential Australian brunch. Social Hideout is a splendid place to indulge in delicious food, surrounded by greenery and sunlight. The cafe has relaxed, laid back vibes and plenty of seating to suit the preferences of both indoor or outdoor diners.
Because one delicious beverage simply isn’t enough, we couldn’t resist sharing an iced coffee, a cold pressed orange juice, and an iced red velvet between us. The flavours were incredibly refreshing and complemented each other so well, we couldn’t imagine a sweeter way to start off our day.
The iced coffee was a stunner for the taste buds. The coffee was a flawless bittersweet blend, and the generous crown of chocolate sauce and whipped cream means that this beverage is fit for royalty. Lucky us!
Here we have the Frenchy in all its colourful glory: featuring vanilla mascarpone, sticky maple, berries and caramelised banana. Who could ever resist such a beautiful plate? Anyone with a sweet tooth would fall in love this dish: at first sight and at first taste.
The french toast was warm and buttery, the mascarpone was fragrant and velvety, and the berries were juicy and fresh. With edible flowers to top it all off, this work of art looked so irresistibly instaworthy. We couldn’t wait to dig in, but first: photos.
Next up we tried the notorious Australian brunch classic. The avocado smash: a sourdough base garnished generously with poached eggs, cherry truss tomatoes, fetta, lemon and basil.
We couldn’t help but admire how perfectly poached the eggs were, and how the flavours of each individual ingredient added up to one extraordinary sensation for the tastebuds. Drizzled all over in zesty lemon, this is definitely one of the best avo smashes we’ve had the pleasure of trying.
Ordering this was probably the best last minute decision we’ve made all year, with many thanks to the lovely staff at Social Hideout for recommending it. Introducing the Arabian Board: with poached eggs, haloumi, olives, cherry truss tomatoes, lebanese cucumber, labneh and turkish bread.
A modern take on traditional middle eastern cuisine, we couldn’t get over this stunning platter. The hands-on aspect of putting together your own tasty creation meant we could play with our food, take our time to savour the lush ingredients, and have everything perfectly proportioned, just the way we wanted it.
Overall, the service was exceptional, and every dish we ordered tasted as amazing as it looked. Tucked inside a secluded courtyard in the sprawling Sydney suburbs, it’s hard to imagine a better way to spend a day off than right here in the company of fine food and fine company. Dining at Social Hideout was a wonderful experience, and we walked away all smiles and filled to the brim with good vibes.
