Tearooms illuminated by the morning light
Nestled in the grounds of a harbourside suburb, the Vaucluse House Tearooms extend a welcome invitation for any occasion of high tea and quality dining. A beautifully styled interior, a secluded atmosphere, state of the art service and fine company combines to create the perfect remedy for those in pursuit of peace of mind.
The French Upgrade: NV Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial
We were greeted warmly as guests and began our day with a glass of sparkling champagne. It was love at first sip with its fruity overtones and lingering flavour; this is most definitely one of the finest beverages of its kind. Small wonder how Moët is renowned worldwide.
High tea for two
Seated in an intimate corner of the tearooms, we were surrounded by the scenic views of the sprawling estate. This was by far one of the most relaxing ways to experience high tea, along with good food and good company.
Masala chai tea with milk
There’s nothing in the world quite so fragrant as the presence of chai. Brewed to perfection and with its signature scent wafting through the air, warm spiced tea is so necessary for moments like these.
Clockwise from top: Salmon & Herbed Cream Cheese Cornet with Keta Caviar, Housemade Mini Lamb Sausage Roll, Pumpkin & Spinach Tart with Smoked Crème Fraiche, and Poached Chicken & Walnut Harry’s Bar Sandwich. Each bite was divinely proportioned for the perfect feed. It left us wanting more, but we knew there were exciting things we had yet to try.
Scones, jam and cream
Or Buttermilk Scones with Clotted cream, Rosella & Berry Preserve to be exact. Rumour has it that no affair of high tea is complete without scones, and this was no exception. The scones were lightly dusted in sugar for the perfect scandal of sweetness, but it was the jam that stole the show.
Clockwise from top: Mini Cherry Bakewell Tarts, Elderflower Cheesecake filled Doughnuts with Strawberry Sugar, Mrs Nisbett’s Ginger Cake, and Rosewater Meringue with Fairy Floss. Of this sweet selection of textures and flavours, we loved the doughnuts and the rosewater meringues. What a mouthwatering tease and a flawless ending.
Exquisite interior decor
The venue was outstanding, service was brilliant, and food was crème de la crème. Our high tea experience at the Vaucluse Tearooms has been a dream, but it’s time to settle back into reality. We would definitely relive this dream again.
