The Darling is one of Sydney’s most luxurious hotels with stunning views of Sydney Harbour, signature decor and 5 star service, it’s no wonder we were brimming with excitement when we walked through the doors of their gorgeous lobby.

Once we were checked in by the wonderful staff we made our way up to our Jewel Suite full of anticipation. Opening the door to the suite was an experience in itself. As you enter into a completely dark room, senses automatically detect your arrival, and like magic, all the blinds open and the lights, TV and radio turns on, welcoming you to a truly magical room in all it’s glory.
With floor to ceiling windows you will be in constant awe of the outstanding views these rooms have to offer. Our spacious Jewel Suite boasted a king-size bedroom and separate living area, complete with wet bar, making it perfect for entertaining.
The room includes 2 televisions, an LED 46″ HD TV in the bedroom and an LED 55″ HD TV in the living room with a plethora of channels and movies for your viewing pleasure. Once you’ve slept on a Darling bed, you’ll be reluctant to leave it. This was like sleeping on a cloud with every bed featuring a customized 1000 spring mattress, 400 thread count 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen and a goose down comforter, which was perfect for our cold winter stay. If that’s not enough, a menu of 12 luxury pillows is offered for your comfort. Outstanding!
Our room also revealed a huge walk in wardrobe complete with all the amenities you might need including a personal safe (that fits a laptop), scales, plush robes and slippers, iron and shoe care. The bathroom was really the ‘jewel’ of the Jewel Suite. Fully marble with ample vanity space including a dual sink, a soaking spa bath, separate toilet, rain shower heads (with European wand) all complemented with Molton Brown amenities (seriously I was tempted to raid the maid cart for more of these).
The Darling is at the centre of The Star entertainment complex, which means a large amount of Sydney’s best restaurants are located right on your doorstep. This grand selection of chef hatted restaurants includes: Sokyo, Balla, The Century, Momofuku Seiōbo and The Harvest Buffet to name a few.
All in all we had an absolutely stellar stay at The Darling, which lives up and beyond to it’s 5 star reputation. I would recommend this to anyone who wants the best out of their Sydney experience.
