Pizzaperta Manfredi is an open, outdoor pizzeria set up on the ground level of The Star. Utilising stoneground flour straight from Italy, left to leaven naturally, you’re assured of quality, delicious pizza. With a reputable brand such as The Star behind them, this is not your average pizza joint.
Conveniently located just outside the Sydney Lyric Theatre, Pizzaperta is the ideal destination for a quick bite before catching a show. There is an abundance of seating (and heaters), so it’s the perfect alfresco dining setting at any time of the year!
Beers and pizza – they go so naturally hand in hand. So we started with an Italian beer (why of course!) Birra Moretti (draught). If beers and ciders don’t do it for you, they also have a wide selection of wines and cocktails too.
Before launching into pizzas, we decided on an antipasto board. A selection of Italian salumi and cheeses, wood grilled vegetables, olives, caprese salad, and focaccia fingers. And wow, you will certainly get bang for your buck! A board appears absolutely overflowing with an abundance of antipasto goodies. We happily munched away whilst our pizzas were cooking.
Pizzaperta have a special on at the moment which you absolutely must try! The fontina cheese with WA truffle. Yes, yes, yes! Do it! It’s oozy and gooey and cheesy with that unmistakable truffle aroma and flavour. If you’re a truffle lover, and let’s face it, who isn’t!?! Then you don’t want to miss out on this truffle special!
We then chose the Marinara Australiana: mozzarella, prawns, scallop, calamari, garlic, parsley, cherry tomatoes, avocado and lemon. With those types of ingredients, you really can’t go wrong. Flavour bomb. And creamy avo is such a brilliant addition. All atop a pizza crust that is soft yet has chew and the requisite charred and burnt edges. So good!
And no Italian meal is complete without a little tiramisu. Biscuits, egg yolk, mascarpone, cocoa and espresso. Deliciously creamy and decadent. And at $7.50 a pop, an absolute bargain as well. If tiramisu don’t rock your boat, then they’ve got a nutella pizza on the menu, or even better, gelato! Something to please everyone.
The Pizzaperta Manfredi crew are all about good, quality food in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. This becomes evident in their packaging, where all the pizzas are served in pizza boxes (yes, even when you dine in!). Next time you’re looking for that pizza fix, head down to The Star, and give Pizzaperta a go. And if you’re really really lucky, the truffle pizza will still be on the menu! You’re welcome!
