Veal Tortolloni and Beef Consommé
Components of the Beef Consommé reminded me of pho and provided a heart warming component to the dish. I would have preferred the skin of the tortolloni to be slightly more cooked but this was otherwise enjoyable.
Pan seared scallops, creamed parsnip and grilled Spanish chorizo
I often find the combination of mild scallop x spicy Spanish chorizo is offered across many of Sydney’s restaurants and I can’t help ordering it every time. I personally don’t like parsnip but otherwise I really enjoyed this dish.
Wagyu Beef Tenderloin (score 9+) 200gm (Rose Valley, NSW)
We ordered this dish medium rare and we’re pleased to see that it was! The beef was beautifully cooked and had just the right amount of seasoning to compliment the jus. The accompaniments of potato mash and the potato crisp added some contrasting textures, making the overall dish quite rustic.
Crispy Pork Belly, piquant apple sauce with textures of carrot
I found this dish really interesting! There are many small elements and ingredients used to create this dish and I enjoyed eating a bit of everything. The apple sauce really helped cut through the deliciously fatty pork belly. Yum!
Truffled house chips with Gruyère Cheese
I was hoping for a bit more of a stronger truffle flavour but the chef kindly explained that they used specially imported truffle salt for a more subtle flavour. The cheese on the chips was amazing though.
Coconut meringue with mango, papaya and passionfruit
Dessert was definitely a highlight for me! I’m really drawn to Asian and tropical flavours so I couldn’t surpass coconut, mango, papaya and passionfruit! I could definitely taste the coconut in the meringue and it really reminded me of coconut sweets/biscuits I used to eat as a child.
Cheesecake with beurre noisette, coffee puree, berry glaze, lemon margin and pumpkin ice cream
The pumpkin ice cream was eye catching on the menu and I was not disappointed, the pumpkin flavour was present but not overpowering. The presentation of the dish was also impressive – dare I say a de-constructed cheese cake? The cheesecake was creamy and the crumbs provided a good crunch for texture and depth.
