Cafe Mint is a modern Moroccan and Mediterranean cafe in the hustle and bustle of Surry Hills (Cleveland Road end). A cute little rustic looking place that serves up your typical (and not so typical) cafe fare by day and twilights as a restaurant by night.
Their cafe menu ranges from your standard smashed avo and baked eggs, through to their more Mediterranean influenced tagine, mezza plate and fattoush. A diverse menu allows for a lot of variety. They even have your muffins and brownies on their counter for a quick brekky on the run.
We started with their sparkling water with mint and lime. How refreshing! And so much tastier than plain old sparkling water! The lime in this will really wake you up!!!
First up, we grabbed the spinach, mint and feta scrambled eggs with a side of sucuk (turkish spicy beef sausage aka chorizo). So incredibly good! They have the softly scrambled method down pat. Soft and creamy and delicious! And that sucuk! It whacks a solid punch so if you like your spice, then make sure you grab a side serving of these!
We also grabbed one of their Lebanese flat bread plates. Their options range from lamb, chicken, prawns and halloumi to name a few. Our choice was the lamb kefta with mint yoghurt and salad.
The lamb keftas are delicious and a highly recommended dish! Loads of flavour in those lamb patties.
We also tried their couscous salad with fresh and roasted seasonal vegetables, apricots and pine-nuts. The dried apricots surprisingly worked really well and added a chewy dimension to the salad.
We visited Cafe Mint for a very enjoyable brunch. But as we looked up and saw their wine selection, we regretted not visiting for dinner instead! A quick look at the menu revealed a 7 or 9 course set menu, a vegan tasting menu, as well as canapé/buffet type catering too!
If you’re on the look out for a cafe or restaurant who serves more than just your typical cafe food, then give Cafe Mint a try!
