Big Daddys Burger Bar is the latest addition to the Sydney burger scene. And a welcome addition at that! Located in the heart of Newtown, Big Daddys Burger Bar has you set for that perfect lunch time carb coma or that late night, post drinks burger fix.
Big Daddys Burger Bar has that retro 1960’s American diner feel, complete with red vinyl boothes and the odd assortment of posters adorning the walls.
The menu is reflective of your typical diner and ranges from burgers, subs (including a Philly Cheese!!) and dawgs (aka hot dogs) through to chicken wings, curly fries and the ultimate calorific fried chicken and bacon waffles!
To start, the onions rings are a must. No burger feast is complete without a serving of these crunchy deep fried morsels of goodness. They have some serious crunch and will leave you wanting more. Just a word of warning: Don’t share! It’s a single serving! You’re welcome 🙂
We deliberated on the dawg selection for a bit but then decided on the Chicago Style. Mustard, diced onions and tomatoes, relish, Big D’s mayo and melted cheese. The snag is obviously the most important aspect of a hot dog and this one is a fabulous pork sausage with a bit of spice. Nothing beats that snap of a sausage that has been grilled to perfection!
For our burger choice, it was a no-brainer. The ‘Mac Daddy’ is a triple Angus patty, nicely charred on the outside, and cooked to a nice pink medium (unless otherwise requested!). Requires participation from all ten fingers but it’s worth the mess!
You can then select from any toppings you please. An absolute must is the jalapeños which are deep fried, spicy and crunchy!!! Grilled onions, pickles and american cheese made up the rest of our burger. This was a delicious burger of mammoth proportions. We dare you to try it!
Big Daddys have a selection of shakes and when we saw peanut butter fudge on the menu the decision was made. This shake is so incredibly thick and creamy, you’d be better off with a spoon. Pure gluttonous enjoyment to be had.
Nothing says american food quite like fried chicken and waffles. It comes with maple syrup and sauce. The jalapeno mayo was the crowd pleaser. They also have a sauce called the ‘Ass Burner’ which we tried. We tried a minuscule portion and our mouths were burning! Thank god for the shake to extinguish the flames! If crunchy fried chicken and an extra carb hit is your thing, then look no further!
Big Daddys Burger Bar is the latest burger joint to hit Sydney and we love it! Newtown, with its fabulous food options is already great, but with newbies like Big Daddys setting up shop, there’s even more of a lure to head down to Newtown for a bite on a Friday night.
