The Barra is quickly becoming one of the most popular eateries in Mortdale and for good reason. With an amazing selection of fresh seafood options matched with mouth watering burgers and delicious salads, it’s no wonder there’s a line of locals every lunchtime.
Beef Burger with the LOT
This is exactly what I love about places like this. Real burgers packed full of everything. Juicy beef, lettuce, caramelized onions, beetroot, tomato, cheese, egg, pineapple and special maple bacon. A behemoth in flavour and size. Amen.
These golden rings of crispy heaven were an excellent belly filler, bringing an old school nostalgia with a modern seasoned taste and texture to good ol’fashioned fish and chip fare.
Salmon and Spinach Pie
The Barra have definitely taken their fish and chip shop status to a new level with this gorgeous hunk of pie. The filling was a delicious mixture of juicy salmon with tasty spinach and feta. Great hot (and I dare say, even cold) this is a great and unique offering.
You know this is going to be good simply from looking at it. The perfectly charred edges and that caramelised colour were pure perfection. The meat was plump and juicy, super tender, with a simple seasoning allowing the flavour of the octopus to dominate.
What a feast! If you can’t decide, why not get the lot? I definitely suggest getting the mixed grill for a delicious choice of gilled fish, calamari, octopus, prawn skewers and a fresh Greek Salad.
Finally we finished with this flavoursome hunk of fish. The salmon was succulent, with a beautiful marinate that infused the fish with awesome flavour.
Definitely worth the visit. We cant wait to return.
