Bat Country is the perfect spot for those who enjoy great drinks, cocktails and food in an unusual and relaxed atmosphere. Served by really friendly staff, the place is packed almost every night of the week. Sitting across the street from the Ritz Cinema, this is the place to be for pre-screening drinks and post-screening dinner.
Named in honour of Hunter S Thompson’s novel ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’, this restaurant is sure to transport you to a place of fun and intrigue with its dark and cosy interior.
‘Monument to Misbehaviour’ $20 and ‘St Pauls 32’ $17
The well-crafted cocktails are a must for this venue – and a great attraction. Pictured here are the ‘Monument to Misbehaviour’ and the famous ‘St Pauls’ named after the street on which we were located! These were a great start to the evening, and was sure to prepare the palate for the mix of flavours that awaited.
Another great variety of the cocktails include the Watermelon Daiquiri and the Abita Mojita. Both very refreshing for an afternoon/evening cocktail.
The dinner menu is focused on share-style dishes. Available in three varieties, the ‘Bat-cups’ are a twist on the traditional san chow boy, combining asian culture in the heart of Randwick.
BC’s S’nP $18
The salt and pepper calamari was a great dish. Cooked well and very tasty. The wasabi mayonnaise is certainly a bonus to give this dish the extra flavour.
Market Fish Fillet with Prawns & Mango $33
The Market Fish Fillet with Prawns and Mango is a must. It contains a great mix of flavours, a light meal but deeply satisfying.
Bloody Chunk’a Rump $19
‘Bloody Chunka Rump’ is a must. Cooked medium rare, this dish certainly impressed with its mix of spices and flavour.
Rumple Spudskins with Garlic Cream $9
The menu has a great variety of sides for you to choose from to compliment your meals. These chips were certainly a favourite!
The traditional cocktails and new ones show the versatility of the bar staff – ask them your favourite, or for their recommendation!
Open 7 days a week, Bat Country is very convenient in location (accessible by public transport, 10 mins from the Sydney CBD). The friendly staff, the variety of the food menu, complimented by the cocktails and drinks, are a good indication to a great place to meet up with family or friends.
