Over the weekend, Woolworths ramped up Easter to a whole new level, bringing a little bit of fun to the humble Hot Cross Bun. Showcasing their very own Woolworths Hot Cross Bun POP-UP Topping Bar. A tantalising little kiosk set up right in front of Westfield Bondi Junction’s Woolworths.
With tray upon tray of freshly baked plain and fruit Woolworths Hot Cross Buns fresh from the oven, Woolworths challenged people to create exciting, mouthwatering topping combos. It was no wonder to see such a long line of eager kids and adults relishing in this unique and complementary experience.
Hosting a huge array of different sweet toppings like Nutella, honey, marshmallows, strawberries, bananas, 100’s and 1000’s and caramelised popcorn, to an interesting and downright delicious selection of savoury from smashed avo, ham, pineapple, cheese and tomato.
Well done to Woolworths for creating such a fun and festive experience. It was really wonderful to see them celebrating and making the most of this much loved treat!

Hot Cross Buns are traditionally baked for lent and eaten on Good Friday. The mark or cross is of ancient origin and is connected with religious offerings of bread. Earlier literature revels these buns were better known as the Good Friday Bun and date all the way back to the 12th century when an Anglican monk placed the sign of the cross on the bun to honour Good Friday.
