Sunny days overlooking Sydney Harbour. Yes please!
As the name suggests, Manly Wharf Hotel is conveniently located by the wharf in Manly, accessible by public ferries (or your private yacht if you can imagine hard enough.) The menu refresh is a collaboration between Manly Wharf Hotel’s Head Chef Alex Towning and Food Rascals founder and Executive Chef David O’Brien (ex-Merivale).
The gorgeous nautical outdoor seating on the wharf packaged along with a beautiful view is a great hot spot for weekend lunches or large parties and gatherings.
Lemon Lime Bitters to get the party started!
Mango, Avocado and Prawn Salad
Nothing screams summer and Australia more than mangoes, avocado and prawns. The sweet and sour balanced well with the creamy avocado and savoury prawns. A great summer salad executed well.
Crispy Potato and Bean Salad
This is a great vegetarian option filled with bursting juicy cherry tomatoes, medium boiled eggs and POTATOES! I don’t how but Manly Wharf managed to make potatoes so crispy but please sir, I want some more.
Roasted Pumpkin, Beetroot and Trout Salad
The heavenly buttery and nutty pumpkin contrasting against the sharp sour beetroot and savoury cheese was a party flavour in my mouth. This is a STRONG and welcomed addition to the list of MUST HAVE summer salads.
Fresh Crumbed Mooloolaba Whiting Fillets
Fish and Chips just a lil bit fancy. A simple classic done right – warm, crispy and golden fillets on a bed of crunchy chips.
Port Lincoln Mussels
Forgive me because I don’t know what sauce these mussels were smothered in, I was too busy stuffing them in my face. These are a great starter to any weekend lunch.
Ora King Salmon
This was one of my favourite dishes – creamy soft salmon on a bed of firm yet soft gnocchi and asparagus. The salmon was practically falling apart on itself but had a great amount of moisture preventing it from being dry.
Carbs and seafood? Yes please. At this point, I was getting spoilt silly so I did my best to gobble down this delicious dish. The linguini was cooked al dente, perfect with the chilli prawns and smoked salmon.
Tiger Prawn and Steak
You know the way your phone tells you that your storage is filled and you can’t take a photo? That was my stomach when I saw this dish. I called backup (my second stomach) because I just had to try some. The lovely pink centre assured me that the steak was medium rare and it did not disappoint in my mouth.
Overall, Manly Wharf Hotel really does not disappoint, great attentive service, even better food and fantastic summer vibes. Forget dingy hotel food – Manly Wharf Hotel is where it’s at.
