Passion Tree, Chatswood Interchange

Passion Tree Velvet is one of those places that sends sweet-toothed, dessert obsessed people like me into overdrive.

As I walked into Passion Tree at Chatswood Interchange, at that moment I imagined this is how Charlie Bucket would have felt walking into Willy Wonka’s wonderland. Rainbow macarons to my right, waffles to my left – I had never experienced indecisiveness so badly before.

The team at Passion Tree were extremely generous during my visit and I had the opportunity to sample most of the menu during my 2 hour sugar induced coma here. Choosing my favourite item on the menu is like asking which of your parents you love more but if I had to choose, the lemon tart is a sure thing.

Blueberry honey bread

Honey bread, commonly found in Asian bakeries, topped with slivered almonds, blueberries, drizzles of honey and totally necessary whipped cream.

Lemon meringue tart

The Passion Tree lemon meringue tart is spot on with it’s perfectly crumbly biscuit base and tart lemon curd with hidden surprises of lemon jelly to make this dessert all the more perfect.

Carrot cake

For the cream cheese obsessed like myself, the carrot cake has been created with alternating layers of carrot cake and cream cheese frosting. The best of both worlds.

Blueberry cheesecake

If clouds tasted like anything, it would be this. Melt in your mouth blueberry cheesecake.

Dark chocolate dipping pot

Options of dark or milk chocolate with a serving of ripe, juicy strawberries.

Macarons

A huge range of macarons flavours are available at Passion Tree including strawberry, jasmine, pistachio, salted caramel, passionfruit, lemon, coconut and chocolate. My top pick is jasmine.

Banana chai Passion chino and white peach soda

Passion Tree boasts an impressive drinks menu to match its desserts including a number of their signature ‘Passion chinos’ (the milkshake reinvented) and fresh fruit sodas.

Banana waffle

Thick toasted waffles with candied bananas, biscuit flakes and ice cream to cut through the layers of this dessert.

Green tea bingsoo

Bingsoo, a popular Korean shaved ice dessert, has made its way to Sydney. I had my first bingsoo with matcha ice cream, cornflakes (trust me, this combination works), red bean and crushed macadamias adding savoury element to this addictive dessert.

Passion Tree is a hit with dessert lovers like myself but has also become the perfect hangout for a catch up with an old friend or even a first date with it’s inviting white walls and irresistibly cute pink lounges.

Perfectly positioned in the bustling Chatswood Interchange makes this place the perfect final destination after a round of dumplings to end the night on a (sugar) high note.
