Scotch Fillet Steak Burger $18
Us Aussies really do love our steak and beetroot combos! I think it’s the sweet earthy flavour that balances out the rich savoury meat that does the trick. This was a really great burger and a perfect lunch option for a hungry diner. The bun was soft and light while the meat was tender and juicy. On top of it all was fresh tomato and rocket, crispy bacon and a slice of cheddar cheese to finish it all off. Accompanying the burger were the most delicious and crunchy hand cut chips. While I was pleasantly full from the burger, I couldn’t help but eat every single chip on my plate. When food is that good it’s a crime to waste it.
Deconstructed Nachos $16
I loved the idea of keeping all the different parts of this dish separate. It allowed for the chips to stay firm and crunchy and to make sure every aspect of the dish was showcased. So may times Ive eaten a bowl of nachos only to find that all the good stuff had fallen to the bottom. The pulled pork was really something special, braised in a rich spicy sauce with capsicum, it was so soft it scooped up perfectly on to the corn chips.
Elton’s is a great place with a chilled out atmosphere, great food & drink and lovely service. A real gem in the Mudgee community, check out their lovely open air courtyard if you’re in the mood for a little sun.
