Personality in every glass…
We were fortunate to meet Andrew Gay, the General Manager of Burnbrae Wines at an event in Sydney and after trying his award winning Botrytis Semillon, we quickly added Burnbrae onto our list of must visit wineries in Mudgee. Established in 1968, Burnbrae is a Mudgee icon producing wine that fully displays the regionality of the Mudgee region.
The name Burnbrae comes from the Celtic language meaning “stream at the bottom of hill” which describes the picturesque location. On top of their exceptional, award winning wines, Burnbrae also offers accommodation at their historic Winemaker’s Cottage. A charming, self contained two bedroom cottage with a fireplace and veranda. A popular romantic weekend getaway. Nudge, nudge fellas!
As we stepped into their cellar door we instantly felt at home. A cosy, rustic, welcoming feeling made even better with the sight of wine in the background. Next door, they house their very own function venue which offers a glorious view perfect for weddings, engagements and special events.
The Burnbrae philosophy is to always maintain the integrity of each Boutique wine with an individual focus on nurturing each vintage to bring out its finest characteristics. Burnbrae’s vines are hand picked, basket pressed and then each vintage crafted with great care to create wine with true personality.
After a lovely afternoon of stunning views, warm hospitality and, of course, phenomenal wine, Burnbrae has fast become our favourite in Mudgee.
