Affordable, fresh, local and delicious. Vapiano has definitely made a name for itself in the short time its been in Sydney, with its casual dining style matched with quality food and a chilled atmosphere. The successful chain starting in Germany now has over 150 Vapianos in 29 countries on 5 continents, including 5 in Australia. A favourite of ours, we decided on a return visit.
Antipasto Large $19.9
A beautiful selection of meats, parmesan, buffalo mozzarella, olives, sun dried tomatoes and bruschetta. My favourite of the board was the creamy and fresh buffalo mozzarella, which was topped with an incredibly fresh pesto sauce. Spread that on a crusty piece of bread and you’re in heaven.
Insalata Caprese $12.9
More buffalo mozarella, but this time in homage to the Italian flag. The Caprese salad is as simple as it gets for Italian food, and easily one of my favourites. The flavours of the ripe tomatoes and fragrant basil go perfectly with the cheese.
Salami e Ricotta con Rucola $18.9
Decided that the interesting flower shaped Campanelle pasta would go perfect with this dish, and we were correct. The strong flavour from the spicy salami and pepper rocket was really complimented by the salty ricotta shaved on top.
Looking around, it was great to see a fun and casual atmosphere at Vapiano, not only for the customers but from the staff too, who seem to enjoy making the food almost as much as I enjoyed eating it.

Pesto Con Spinaci $15.9
And from the nimble hands of the pizza chefs, right on the table. This was a little bit of a cheat item as we added some succulent BBQ chicken. No apologies for breaking the rules here as the combo was crazy good. The smokey chicken was a knock out on the pesto base, while the fresh tomato and spinach balanced out the heavy flavours.
Apple and Cinnamon Martini
I couldn’t resist getting this sugar rimmed cocktail. Reminiscent of an apple crumble, only liquid and alcoholic, the perfect pre desert treat!
Nutella Cheesecake $5.9
How could I resist this? Each luscious scoop more rich than the last, the chocolaty hazelnut flavour of the Nutella permeates through your senses. I loved the chopped nuts on top, giving the crunch that is missing from an actual cheesecake. I would come back just for this baby!
Vapiano is great if you’re in the city for a quick and easy lunch or even a nice relaxed dinner or drink upstairs. The service is impeccably friendly and fast, and as you saw above the food is fresh and delicious. Our return trip completed and thoroughly enjoyed – well done!
