Zeus Street Greek

You know Zeus, right? Ancient Greek God, holds a lightning bolt and rules over Mount Olympus. Well, he’s located in Drumoyne (and expanding rapidly with locations opening in Rosebery, Cronulla, Dulwich Hill and South Bank QLD shortly) and he’s cooking up a storm of delicious Greek street food.

Zeus’ philosophy is simple – to use time-honoured methods and family recipes to make real food, with integrity, taste and freshness. They have a massive offering of yummy slow-cooked meats served with fresh pita called gyros.

Look at it, isn’t it beautiful!

You’ll be spoilt for choice at Zeus, with more than 8 different varieties of gyros on offer. We went straight to their signature, Uncle ‘Tzimmy’ Classic Pork served with tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and chips all wrapped in pita ($10.50).

Soft Shell Crab ($13.50)

Lightly fried soft shell crab with Aegean slaw, preserved lemon mayo, caramelized onion, sweet chilli and coriander. The pita is freshly made and was super soft and moist contrasting the golden crispy crab. The finely sliced onions, carrots and sauce really complemented that sweet and creamy crab meat.

A wide selection of sides are avaliable, like this light and scrumptious Spanakopita ($8.50). A homemade flaky spinach and cheese pie that’s unspeakably crisp and flavoursome.

Order some crispy chips topped with Feta and Oregano. A great combo to nibble away on while you wait on your mains ($8.50).

Their Grilled Cypriot cheese, lemon and oregano ($11.50) is a real winner boasting that creamy salty flavour that sends me crazy.

After all that food our second stomach, designed exclusively for desserts kicked in. Their Loukoumades, or Greek doughnuts are served with either honey ($8) or chocolate ($9). You can’t go wrong with either (or both). And ever the gluttons, we tried their Bougatsa. A vanilla bean custard wrapped in light filo pastry served warm, dusted with cinnamon and icing sugar ($9.50).
