The Hive Bar at Erskineville and easily reached via Newtown, is a splendid place to visit with mates especially on a Friday night. They harbour a great variety of local and international alcoholic beverages as well as a delicious range of nibblies for the peakish and larger main meals for the hungry.
Drinks wise, The Hive Bar serves a variety of different cocktails, one of them being “The Maple”, which is a great tasting drink served with smoked pear and maple syrup.
Check out their Happy Hour Fri-Sat for $10 Espresso Martini’s, Margarita’s, Caipiroska’s or Tom Collins – definitely worth your while.
For snacks or starters you cant go past their Paprika stuffed with Goat Cheese. Simple yet delicate and tasty.
Alternatively, their most famous and acclaimed finger food is their skewers of Kangaroo meat. Kangaroo meat can be difficult to cook as the meat can easily get quite tough, but The Hive’s kitchen cooked them to the perfection! They are also topped with savoury chimichurri.
Their vegetarian empanadas of Cuban black beans and grilled corn parcels are great with creamy chipotle dip.
For main their Chorizo pizza is also delicious. The dough has just the right consistency and cheese and sauce is also tastefully distributed.
Yes, that’s right, this baby is only $5. Definitely the star of the show, jam packed with raw onion, tomato sauce, American mustard, a creamy cheese slice, house made pickles and a thick, juicy hand made beef patty. All of this is encased in a roll customised specially for The Hive by a bakery in Newtown.
