Ramen O-San, Haymarket

With winter getting colder and colder, there’s nothing like a nice hot bowl of ramen to warm you from within. Cut to us making a beeline for Ramen O-san, a diamond in the ruff of the Dixon House Food Court in Chinatown.

Creamy Tonkotsu Ramen $11.80

So damn special they only make 10 servings of this wonder-ramen a day! The rich broth was thick an indeed creamy, with a moreish umami flavour. The thinly sliced pork was tender, laying on top of a bed of soft noodles. Absolutely delicious.

Sumo Yokozuna Ramen $15.80

Now this may look like a hot mess and your’re right, it was. It was also sensational! This mega bowl of ramen was the perfect thing on this cold winter night. The massive ‘sumo sized’ bowl is packed to a high peak with noodles, cabbage, sprouts and broth. Then add 4 giant chunks of the softest braised pork. AMAZING!

Ramen O-san really hits the nail on the head with their traditional and delicious bowls of goodness. Be prepared to wait though, this place is popular, and for good reason. It’s cheap, its hot and it’s easily some of the best Japanese food in Sydney.

And if you’re a Washoku Lovers member, you’ll get this delicious bowl of rice for half price!
