With the change of season it was definitely time for a change of menu and Pink Salt were kind enough to invite us and other choice bloggers to try their new one out.
Grilled haloumi, white peaches, pine nuts and vincotto
A great starter yet a risky one as haloumi tends to dry out pretty quickly. Luckily these were served fresh and hot so the cheese was still soft and ozzing. The white peached added a nice sweetness, as did the vincotto.
Scallops, burnt carrot, black pudding crumbs, orange, saffron
The scallops were perfectly cooked and were buttery and sweet. The carrot added a smokiness while the black pudding, which I particularly liked, was like little savoury sprinkles of unique flavour.
Blue eye cod, leek, vongole, parsley butter
A solid dish and probably one of the best fish dishes I’ve had in a while. The cod had a nice crisp skin that was pleasantly seasoned with firm flesh underneath. The vongole were like little meaty mouthfuls of flavour and I was pretty impressed with the leek mouse.
Saffron gnocchi, duck ragu, peas, parmesan
The duck was amazing tender and moist as were the little yellow gnocchi which melted in the mouth. The peas added some nice bursts of sweetness to the dish while the sharp parmesan balanced it all out.
Chocolate delice, salted caramel DC coffee ice-cream
Wow this was rich. Like a brick of pure heaven, the dark chocolate casing enveloped a lush chocolate mousse. The coffee ice cream was a nice touch giving the dish a bit of a mocha feel.
Ice-cream sandwich peanut butter ice-cream, grape jelly
PB ‘n’ J a very unique way. The biscuit was buttery and crumbly while the peanut butter ice cream was velvety and full of nutty flavour. The grape jelly did exactly what its meant to do balancing out the richness of the peanuts. An excellent dessert!
Doughnuts, toasted almond flakes honey almond ice-cream
My fav sweet of the night these were like little doughy clouds. Coated in sugar and cinnamon. The honey almond ice cream was a flavour I hadn’t come across before and I’m glad I did because its sensational.
