Squid Ink Pappardelle, Snow Crab, Coriander & Tomato 23.50
These velvety ribbons of jet black pasta were coated in a light and fragrant tomato based sauce. The subtle ocean taste of the squid worked well with the tomato adding an almost salty quality while not taking away from the sweet crab meat.
French Onion Soufflé Gratin $20
If you’re a cheese fanatic like me then you can imagine how this was like heaven in a bowl. OK, just looking at this could probably give you a heart attack, but it’s one of the most sublime dishes I’ve ever had. The cheese was oozing from every orifice of this golden mound and the soufflé was light and airy.
Bultarra Saltbush Lamb Rack, Confit Lamb Shoulder, Eggplant & Ratatouille 41.50
Ouft! What a chunk of meat! These Chops were done exactly the way I like them. Rare and tender with a good amount of flavoursome fat. What you wont see hiding underneath is more lamb, this time confit shoulder that is fall-apart soft and eats perfectly with the loud flavoured ratatouille.
Duck Confit with Caramelised Onion Tart Tatin, shimeji Mushrooms, Brussel Sprouts & Foie Gras $41.50
Easily the best of the night, was this astounding dish of decadence. A crispy skinned confit leg of duck sits on a sweet tart tatin of caramelised onion, accompanied by a very generous amount of chewy mushrooms AND foie gras. Seriously this dish couldn’t get better. The creamy savoury foie gras, mixed with the crunch of the brussel sprouts was just magic. I never rate dishes but if I did this would be a perfect score.
Fig and Raspberry Clafoutis with Pistachio & Nougat Ice Cream
When I go sweet I usually prefer cakey desserts, so I was very pleased with this clafoutis. Taking advantage of the in season fig was a good choice, as the sweet honey like sweetness permeated throughout the dessert, which balanced well with the tart raspberries.
Mandarin Soufflé with Pistachio Praline and Chocolate Sorbet
From a savoury soufflé to a sweet one, this easily satisfied my massive choc-orange fetish. The soufflé was unspeakably light with an intense mandarin flavour, with a surprise crunch from the pistachio praline.
