Located upstairs at The Winery in Surry Hills is the Champagne Room.
A space of decadent surrounds, cosy booths and of course, an all-important Champagne button to alert waiters whenever your flute requires a refill.
Offering a $75 weekend lunch menu, we thought what better way to spend a weekend?
Lunch starts with the all important flute of Perrier Jouët Champagne.
Watching those bubbles is really something special and after lavishing in our first glass and toasting to our ballin’ weekend we simply pushed the Champagne Button and got some more.
Freshly shucked oysters served natural with Champagne vinaigrette & lemon
First course on the menu was a plate of beautifully fresh and freshly shucked oysters. I was elated to find out that the oysters of the day were Coffin Bay (my absolute favourite) which made savouring their creamy iodiny goodness even better, especially with the sharp champagne vinaigrette. vinaigrette
Raw Hervey Bay Scallops
Another fresh seafood dish, the raw scallop has a buttery, oceany taste, that mixes so well with the mango, shallot, chilli, mint, lime salsa adorning it.
Jamón, bresola, & sopressa , with parfait, green apple chutney, mustard fruits
I love a good cured meat plate. Full of delicious delicacies, my favourite being the chicken liver parfait, which was rich, smooth and absolutely divine, spread on the lightly toasted sourdough.
Champagne Room also offer an extensive array of cocktail options like this Tropical Itch made with Comte Louise de Lauriston Calvados, Ron Zacapa 23yr Rum, honey, ginger, pineapple, Peychaud’s Bitters, Perrier Jouët Champagne.
Or prebottled and ready to serve cocktails like this ‘de la Louisiane’ (left $19) made with Bulleit Rye Whiskey, Benedictine liqueur, sweet vermouth, Peychaud’s Bitters or the Tuxedo (right $19) made with Tanqueray Gin, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur, orange bitters.
Seasonal Beets Salad
Next on the menu was the seasonal beets salad. Vibrant with a delicious fresh crunch, the beets were mixed with sorrel, red kale, Jannei goats curd, toasted sunflower seeds and sherry vinaigrette to make a crisp summer salad.
On to the mains with this delicious Rotolo filled with pistachio, sage, Meredith yoghurt and the very aromatic truffle. I was blown away at how smooth and full-flavoured the filling was. Sweet at the start, then lingering onto a earthly taste from the truffles and then finishing with a nice clean landing from the yoghurt.
Mini Wagyu Beef Burgers + Rocket & Parmesan Salad and Fries
Ending the savoury portion of our set menu were these delicious little Wagyu burgers. The juicy and tender wagyu is sandwiched between fresh heirloom tomatoes, gruyere cheese, truffle mayo then finished with a soft and lightly toasted white bun.

A beautiful medley of fresh berries drizzled in a luscious champagne sabayon, topped with a delicious scoot of berry sorbet and sprinkled with sugared pistachios. A-mazing!
Now this was a brownie. Never mind that it was as long as a brick, but it had everything I look for in a true brownie. Warm and rich, with a bold chocolate flavour and a dense and chewy texture relieved by the odd crunch of a nut. Absolutely divine and matched perfectly with the generous scoop of creamy gelato.
The Champagne Room is an establishment full of class and style. From the beautiful setting and the premium food and beverages to the impeccable and polite service, this place will definitely be on the return list for us.
