Firefly is a great little restaurant and bar located in the beautiful suburb of Neutral Bay. Known for offering delicious share plates, great craft beers and a fun wine list featuring Sydneys most epic Pinot Noir collection.
Firefly is a local hub for casual tasty dining, particularly at lunch and because of this they’ve brought out a fantastic Friday lunch special. Boldly moving away from their traditional share plate offering’s, the lunch special was a direct response to the demands of local businesses looking for a dining experience to work within their budget and time constraints. At only $20 for selected dishes, we decided to try it for ourselves.
Not just a wine bar, Firefly has a huge array of premium liquours, and offer a fantastic drinks menu full of delicious cocktails and pitchers to indulge in.
English Blossom $12
A cheery and refreshing cocktail made with Vodka, Lychee, Orange and Rosewater.
Pagan Cerise Cherry Cider $12
Being a big cider fan, I decided to go for this cherry cider having never tried one before. I was extremely pleased to find that it was quite dry with only a hint of sweetness and a lingering cherry after taste. Poured over ice this was a really enjoyable drink. Id also like to mention that its a whopping 8% alcohol.
Duck Pancakes $24
An explosion of flavour is wrapped in these delicate pancakes. From the sticky sweet hoisin sauce to the tender meaty duck, this was an all round great starter.
Grilled Haloumi $$14.50
Thick slabs of gorgeously grilled haloumi interspersed with cuts of watermelon and covered in crunchy toasted almond and a a tangy lemon sauce.
Pumpkin & Ricotta Gnocchi $20
Our first lunch special was this absolutely amazing plate. The soft pillows of gnocchi were so silky and smooth. Like heaven in my mouth. The flavour combo of sweet pumpkin and bitter sage go so well together that I literally licked the plate.
Pulled Pork Sliders & Zucchini Fries $20
A perfect meal for a quick lunch, the sliders were packed full of tender pulled pork then held together with melted cheese, crunchy slaw and a big dollop of creamy mayo.
Accompanying these buns was a generous helping of Firefly’s amazing zucchini fries. Super crispy with a soft and surprisingly flavoursome centre accompanied by creamy aioli.
We think that the new $20 Friday Lunch special’s have everything in it for the perfect dining opp: fresh ingredients, great flavour and overall quality. Since people working in the area usually don’t have a lot of time to eat out during the day, offering an option to have a great lunch served in 20 minutes and within that critical $20 price point is a real winner in our eyes.
