“Life’s a beach at Coogee Pavilion”
Hello Coogee Pavilion and thankyou Merivale for bringing us such a diverse dining venue. All with an ocean view.
We tried out their Ground Floor which offers everything from freshly shucked oysters, burgers and wood-fired pizza. They have a barbershop, flower shop and coffee stand. And for the kids a games arena, complete with giant scrabble, ping pong and in-house theatrette.

Freshly Shucked Oysters
Pacific Oysters – $3.50 each
Freshly shucked shells full of delicate oyster meat with that crisp salty taste.
Tuna, ponzu, salted cucumber, crisp seaweed $18
Beautifully seared tuna. This refreshing dish was full of subtle flavours that worked exceedingly well together. I particularly liked the crisp seaweed which added a superb umami flavour and pleasant crunch to the dish.
Grilled sardines, salmoriglio, lemon, sea salt $14
Grilled to perfection these little beauties were full of great fishy flavour and swimming in a lemony oil and herb dressing. The only thing missing was a nice hunk of crusty bread to mop it all up.
AFFUMICATA – Potatoes, smoked provola, speck, thyme $22
I really love potatoes on pizza so it was a no brainer when choosing from the extensive choices. The base was creamy with smoked provola cheese intensifying the smokiness that’s imparted into the crust by the wood fire oven.
Coogee diner burger, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, burger sauce $18
A good ol’ fashioned diner burger and it couldn’t have been more beautiful in its simplicity. Taking my first bite I was overwhelmed with the feeling that this is what real burgers taste like.
Choc-chip and marshmallow cookie sandwich with honey ice cream $12
Crunchy and sweet the marshmallow cookies encased a super creamy honey ice cream.
Look at that view!
Sit back and relax.
