Sourdough with a pesto base, rocket, cherry tomatoes, eggplant, beetroots, apricot, avocado topped with halloumi and linseeds.
Upon entering Something for Jess, the friendly waitress explained that there was no set menu but instead, the specials were written on the blackboard wall and changed weekly based on a basket of ingredients.
At first taste of my sourdough, I found the toppings slightly underdressed but I made the mistake of eating all the elements separately. When the vegetables were combined with the pesto sourdough bread and halloumi, the balance between the juicy tomatoes, sweet apricots and savoury halloumi was admirable. A top dish!
Smoked Ocean Trout, rocket, portobello mushroom, fetta cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado, radish and nori, in a brioche bun
I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of all these simple elements and while the ingredients were incredibly fresh I did find it a little difficult to eat it as a whole burger due to it’s size and due to the fact that I cant unhinge my jaw like a snake (damn evolution!).
The cafe is filled with cute furnishing and caters 3 communal tables and more seats along a bar.
This quaint little foodie hotspot is a great place to chill in comfort surrounded by cool people and great food. A return visit is definitely on the books.
