Cured Meat Platter (2p) 18.00 (4p) 34.00
Boy do we have something meaty for you…Standing proud in King Street Wharf is the shiny new Meat District Co. Coming off the back of its extremely successful launch in LA, Meat District Co is tantalisingly good with its array of sizzling ribs, scrumptious burgers and cool casual atmosphere.
We started with a selection of premium cured meats, fruits, pickled vegetables, skordalia this tasty board is served with bread, lavosh & grissini.
Compressed, grilled watermelon salad, sumac, goat cheese and hazelnut 8.50
Next up was a compressed, grilled watermelon salad. A perfect summer side the watermelon was super refreshing while the goats cheese gave it that slight richness.
Crispy battered onion rings w. truffle aoli
I cannot tell you how deliciously crisp these were! The batter was simple and light with a phenomenal crunch and a sweet soft onion inside. What I like most about them was how UN-oily they were. Usually I get onion rings and they’re drenched in oil, so I was pretty impressed with these. Also truffle aoli. WINNING!
Beet Salad w. goat curd, roasted apple, radish, watercrest & walnut pesto
Another salad that’s great for summer, the roasted apple gives this a comforting sweetness while the pepperiness of the radish adds a nice kick.
Sweet summer corn with chilli, lime & truffle parmesan
Char grilled and buttery then decorated in a generous amount of grated parmasan, I thoroughly enjoyed these little corn bites.
Truffle fries, truffle salt, truffle parmesan & truffle aioli
Ok. We get it. These guys are loco for the truffles. But seriously who can blame them? These fries were super crisp and very well flavoured. Perfect to share over some drinks.
And speaking of drinks…
At the hands of it’s skilled bartenders Meat District Co is able to produce some fantastic molecular gastronomic cocktails.
A short and carefully selected wine list, the majority of which are Australian, makes way for some very fancy and fun cocktails like these molecular pearls.
This tasty little burger comes with crumbed chicken breast, almond flakes, tomato and a creamy crunchy and sharp horseradish coleslaw.
Roasted bone marrow with garlic, parsley, mustard seeds, chilli. served with bread 8.50
This was probably my favourite thing of the night. Roasted bone marrow may sound gross to those not in the know, but please, I beg you, don’t knock it till you try it. The buttery garlicky marrow is so perfect spread on the soft olive bread and literally melts in your mouth.
Beef & Pork Ribs
Priding themselves on their ribs I was pretty eager to try the delightful slabs. I wasn’t disappointed. Both types were smothered in a rich BBQ sauce and were astoundingly tender falling right of the bone and into my waiting mouth.
Meat District Co trades in fantastic food and drink in a casual and trendy environment and with beautiful harbour views its perfect for any occasion.
