New York Cheeseburger
Bowery Lane is a refined rustic dining experience in the heart of the Sydney CBD and features wholesome food crafted from farm-fresh local and seasonal ingredients.
And speaking of drooling, feast your eyes on this gorgeous thing. Wagyu pattie cooked to medium rare and layered with bois bourdan, monterey jack cheese, tomato, cos lettuce and caramilized onion
Beautifully set out with exposed brick walls and exposed concrete features.
Artisan Sourdough, Pepe Saya Butter & Marinated Mt Zero Olives, Orange, Chilli, Bay leaf
My favourite part of every meal, I have to admit I get tingles of joy whenever quality butter like Pepe Saya is on offer. Makes me feel like “Well if the bread and butter are this good, what’s the rest of the meal going to be like?” Lets find out shall we…
Manchego croquettes, smoked chilli aoli
Starting the night off were these tasty little cheesy bites. The shell was crispy and filled with a bitey cheese and potato filling. I’m a big fan of manchego cheese, so I did wish there was more of it in the croquette, but these were lovely nonetheless.
Char grilled lamb ribs, chimmi churri, rocket
These lamb ribs were superb! Like little lamb lollipop sticks the meat was tender, falling off the bones, and had a really nice char grilled taste that was accentuated by the herbalicious chimmi churri.
La stella burrata, candied olive, petite radish, confit tomato, torn ciabata
Easily my favourite dish of the night I was blown away by how this simple and traditional flavour combination was made so complex in my mouth. Special praise must go to the candied olives which were super intense in sweet olive flavour.
House smoked hickory salmon, puffed wild rice, bottarga salad burnet
Another fantastic dish! The salmon was so soft and easy to cut through it became like butter in the mouth. Sprinkled with pungent shavings of bottarga this was seafood fans dream on a plate.
Master kobe wagyu 9+ inside skirt, chermula, lemon
I cant remember having a piece of meat this good. The 9+ marbling rating gives the meat a perfect meat-to-fat ratio that makes the wagyu so tender and moist its enough to make you drool.
Then this happened…

Tempura Soft Shell Crab Burger
As you can see this guy pretty much walked on my plate basically asking me to devour him. I happily obliged. The crab meat is sweet and crispy works well with the Asian slaw and miso mayo.
Other than great food Bowery Lane has some top notch cocktails and wine on offer.
Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder, Lemon Garlic Dressing, Watercress Salad
Being Greek I know my lamb, so trust me when I tell you this was a great hunk of meat. The meat is so tender it pretty much falls apart at the slightest touch so gobbling these succulent morsels drizzled in lemon was a real win for me.
Whole BBQ Organic Chicken, Lentils, Grain & Smoked Yoghurt
Barbecued to tender perfection the chicken was cut up in generous pieces which the smokiness of the yoghurt really accentuated that char grilled taste in the chicken.
Pork Collar & Scratching’s, Apple, Parsley & Fennel Salad, Spiced Pear Chutney
More meat! This time a hearty pork dish. While the flavours really worked well together and the scratching’s were amazing I unfortunately found the meat a tad dry and think it would have worked better with pork belly. In saying that it couldn’t have helped that we took about 15mins for everyone to take their photos.
Jar of Cookies and Creme
A table favourite, the honeycomb gives a sweet crunch which the tartness from the berries really balances out the richness of the ice cream and cookie crumbs.
An old favourite deconstructed. Each aspect of this dish, from the mix of fresh and cooked strawberries to the think wafers on meringue, were perfect.
This one was as good on the eyes as it was in the stomach! I was pleasantly surprised when this came to the table, as I’m used to ice-cream sandwiches pretty much being a scoop of ice-cream between two cookies. The gingerbread flavour of the sandwich works really well with the spiced poached pear and the chocolate ice-cream.
Cheers to a great night out with lovely people and lovely food.
Bowery Lane is a superb place for any occasion, whether it be a dinner with friends / family, a first date, or even a business lunch. I know I’ll definitely be visiting again in the near future.
