Brokeback Moment – Salted Caramel Syringe, Vanilla Gelato with Chunks of Honeycomb ($8) – a threesome of decadent flavour
Lines out the door, scientists in white lab coats, gelato, China Town and liquid nitrogen – yes, you have guessed it, we are at N2 Extreme Gelato. As the name suggests, this ever popular innovative gelato store churns out gelato within minutes with the help of liquid nitrogen to lines of hungry dessert crazed customers. As you wait and watch, smooth gelato is created right in front of your eyes from the freshest ingredients.
Reverse Mint Choc Chip Sorbet ($6) – creamy chocolate sorbet with crushed mint chips tossed in – yummy!
Glass flasks housing the ingredients of your gelato flavour wait to be poured into the Kitchen Aids and mixed with liquid nitrogen.
Quite a show as the liquid nitrogen does its work. Instantly turning runny ingredients into tasty gelato. N2 Extreme Gelato goes through more that 1,000 litres of liquid nitrogen a week.
N2 Extreme Gelato is a small shop with white Kitchen Aids, staff wearing white lab coats and protective eyewear, black tiles and rows of colourful flasks waiting to be turned into gelato.
Could possibly be the creamiest gelato I have ever eaten.
Flavours change weekly. In addition, their website has a suggestion page where you can submit all the crazy flavours and ingredients you would love to be turned into gelato. If you are lucky, next time you visit, your flavour might be up on the board. Pictured above are some of the crazy flavours that have been featured in the past.
Open daily from 1pm. Long lines and crazy flavours are guaranteed. Worth the wait.
