Ever tried a Kurtosh? Featured above are 7 different types available ranging from $7.50 – $9.50 each
What is a Kurtosh? The name Kurtosh comes from Kurtoskalacs, a cylindrical Hungarian pastry with a crispy, hard outside and a soft, moist inner wall. The dough is coiled around a large rolling pin and then cooked. It is then rolled in different toppings including cinnamon, coconut, chocolate, pistachio, hazelnuts or almonds.
This is Kurtosh House No.2 – the first location Kurtosh House No 1 opened in Randwick back in September 2011, the next was Surry Hills, followed by Kurtosh House No 3 in Crows Nest and then the most recent addition to the family, Kurtosh House No 4 opened up in Darlinghurst.
In addition to Kurtosh, cakes and pastries are also available. Featured above is a variety of slab cakes ranging from $4-$4.50 per 100 grams. A variety of options available include Catastrophe Flourless Chocolate Cake, Spiced Carrot Cake, Baked Cheesecake, Sticky Nuts, Apricot Teacake, Cinnamon & Walnut, Mum’s Chocolate Cake, Blondie and Orange & Olive Oil Sponge. These options are ever changing and you will also be able to see something you like (or many you like) next time you visit. Yum!
The fit out is cosy and trendy with 12-15 small tables inside and out featuring raw brick walls, wooden furnishing and floorboards and low hanging lighting. The Kurtosh Houses used Mecca Espresso beans and serves a wide selection of teas.
