Buttermilk pancakes with ricotta, caramelized bananas, blueberries & maple walnut praline
Love pancakes? I’m constantly searching for Sydney’s best pancakes and Black Pony Cafe does not disappoint. Each pancake was soft and fluffy, oh-so-perfectly stacked on top of each other. A generous scoop of ricotta between each pancake added a sweet creamy touch. On top of the stack sat two halves of a caramelized banana and the maple walnut praline bits added a crunch! Everything was drenched in maple syrup and sprinkled with blueberries. Delicious.
Black Pony Café sits just across from Coogee beach on Coogee Bay Road. Ever so versatile, café by day and bistro by night, this small establishment has a tremendous vibe and an even better breakfast menu. I have only been for breakfast, so I’m not sure what lunch or dinner are like. However, if it’s anything like its breakfast…
On the far right of the café is the bar, with a large wooden communal table in front by the door, and on the left side against the wall sits a row of tables. The décor is untreated slated wooden walls, raw exposed brick, low hanging lights and dark tiles, creating a earthy and natural, warm and cosy environment.
After breakfast, walk along the beach, soak up the sun and take in the view. What a beautiful day!
