Delicate homemade pappardelle ribbon cut pasta with red tomato sauce
Bitton Gourmet Café is located in the increasingly popular suburb of Alexandria, right across the road from Erskineville Park and Oval. This Australian-French café and grocer was opened in 2000 by David Bitton and his wife Sohani, and has grown into its current Alexandrian goldmine.
As we entered the café, we were greeted by the eccentric, charismatic and friendly David Bitton. David’s personality added character and entertainment to our lunching experience as he made his way around chatting to all his diners.
As a child, David grew up cooking with his grandmother and from a young age developed his love for fine food. He currently creates his own gourmet line of products that can be purchased direct from this café. In addition, the Bitton product range, made up of everything from spices, dressings, chutney, marinades, oils, sauces and jams, can be purchased from over 450 stores around Australia.
Breakfast is served all day and popular dishes are the famous French Crepes or the One-Pan Bacon and Eggs. Lunch options include gourmet sandwiches, burgers and the peppered beef eye fillet. Serving only the best, coffee is by Grinders Coffee, bread by Brassiere Breads and the game produce from Game Farm.
Expanding over the years, Bitton Gourmet Café has seating both outside the front and out the back. There are large long tables, family friendly seating and a kids play room filled with toys.
Fun for all ages!
