Glazed Beef Rib
Four hours slow cooked. Literally fell off the bone with each bite more mouth watering than the last. The glaze was sweet and smokey and added a lovely flavour to the meat.
The Bourbon Hotel has been around since 1967, however it has just recently been redesigned. Inspired by New Orleans, it is sleek, stylish and a little bit fancy. Located in the heart of Kings Cross right next to the El Alamein Fountain, the head chef at The Bourbon is James Metcalfe and the food is to die for.
Jambalaya! French for ‘jumbled’ or ‘mixed up’, I have no doubt that the philosophy and heart of this dish come from a similar place to paella, and risotto. In keeping with true Creole tradition the dish is full of vibrant spicy flavours.
Alaskan Crab Clusters
If you visit the Bourbon, this is the signature dish you must get! Alskan crab clusters. 250 grams of fresh, meaty crab goodness dripping in spiced butter. I was actually surprised at how much meat these tasty morsels contained. Here’s a tip – order a side of bread to dip into the remainder of the spiced butter. So, so good.
If you’ve never had banoffee before you really need to get this dessert. Thick caramel sauce fills a crisp buttery pastry cup. On top of this is caramelised bananas, whipped cream and a light shaving of chocolate. Superb!
What a dessert! A brilliant take on the traditional campfire treat. Several layers of gram cracker, marshmallow and chocolate mouse are accompanied by a pot of warm melted chocolate sauce.
