Papa Bo Min is a casual eatery serving modern Chinese food and cocktails, named after owner Michael Jiang’s father who is affectionately called ‘Papa Bo Min’.
From the front door, a female staff greeted us with “Welcome, dinner for 2?”.

She guided us to a nearby table facing the cocktail bar area, where I saw a talented bartender mixing up a gorgeous cocktail into a dragonfruit. I quickly scanned the menu to land on a drink called Dragon’s Jealousy! The first sip was a wild mixture of bold dragon fruit and peach sloshing through my pallet, enticingly cool with a mild citrusy taste that was super refreshing.

First up was the steamed BBQ duck with spinach dumpling that went well with our aperitif. The fluffy dough and succulent fillings were the perfect start to a fantastic meal.

For our mains, we ordered Wok Fried King Prawns with Chilli Bean & Macadamia Nuts. These were plump and juicy, perfectly cooked with a mild heat to accompany the savory nutty flavours.

The crispy skin chicken with spiced soy sauce was a gorgeous experience in my mouth, each bite longing for the next. What looked like a simple dish was riddled with a complexity of fragrance and flavour that just made my mouth water.

These deepfried mini icecream cones sounded too good to pass up, and I’m certainly glad I didn’t. Each with a different flavour, these crispy treats were the perfect balance of hot and cold, crispy soft, savoury sweet.

Finally, saving the best till last, the Valrohna Chocolate and Raspberry Jelly Lamington for our finish. This lamington is a beautiful creation that looked like an artwork on a plate. The lush chocolate centre simply melts in the mouth, while the light crunch of the coconut flakes added a texture that’s unparalleled.
