Opening it’s doors now on McEvoy street, Grandmas only seems to be getting bigger and better with a delectable menu and a new base of operations. We met with owner Jude for a delicious brunch to learn of all things Grandmas.

Jerusalem Hummus and Beef Dish $12.50
We started with this delicious Jerusalem Hummus and Beef Dish, a mix of slowly cooked minced beef served with Grandmas homemade hummus, chickpeas & fresh bread. Perfect to share while you’re waiting for your mains. Every mouthful of the creamy hummus and morish meat gets better and better scooped up into the gloriously fresh bread. Delightful!
Bagel $8.90
Soft and chewy, this freshly baked handmade bagel is served with Grandmas Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Olives from their Canberra location and Labneh sumac cheese. Light, simple, delicious.
Open Fired Eggplant Shakshuka
2 gloriously gooey eggs cooked in sauce made of open fire eggplant, tomato & onion served with Labneh cheese.
The smokiness of the eggplant really enhances the flavour of the rich tomato sauce as does the richness of the yolk and labneh.
Beef Shakshuka $16.50
Easily my favourite dish of all the Grandmas menu’s, each bite is better than the last. The slow cooked meat is perfectly spiced with added depth from the tahini. The fresh tomatoes add a nice balance.
The one thing I am always super impressed with is the phenomenal bread that Grandmas makes fresh everyday. Like eating a cloud.
Grandma’s Fresh Juices $6.50
Apart from their delicious coffee, Grandma’s also makes a range of fresh juices for that all natural kick of freshness in the morning.
Ricotta Pancakes
One of the most interesting things I’ve ever eaten. These ricotta pancakes are served with yogurt, fresh fruits, honey blossom sauce & a touch of Grandma’s nuts & seeds. The fluffy texture and fresh fruit make for a very pleasent eat. I will definitely be ordering this again.
All in all, and as usual, a fantastic meal at Grandma’s! The food, the service and the buzzing atmosphere make for a fantastic meal and a fantastic day, and after an enlightening chat with Jude, one thing is for sure: you should definitely watch this space.
