Porterhouse Bar and Grill is located in the heart of Glebe, set amongst some of the best restaurants and cafes that Sydney has to offer. Surrounded by such fine eateries, they hold their own by offering mouth watering steaks, ribs and burgers. Among other things.
There’s plenty of seating both inside and out. We chose to dine alfresco on the front terrace overlooking Glebe Point Road. The perfect spot to while away the afternoon with some delicious food and bevvy in hand. There’s also a fantastic area out back, ideal for small functions or gatherings.
Unable to decide which starters to select, we chose “The Sampler” which consists of a little bit of everything. Or so we thought. It’s more like “a lot of everything”! Onion rings, buffalo wings, squid, deep fried cheese sticks, chips and sauces. The Sampler arrived on a large platter, a piping hot mountain of deep fried goodness and we can tell you now, this will be the best $38 bucks you will ever spend. Not only is it enough to feed at least 4 people, but it’s absolutely delicious and one of our favourite dishes here.
To add a hit of greens, we went with the Porterhouse Chicken Salad which contains mesclun lettuce, croutons, roast pumpkin, sundried tomatoes, danish feta, Porterhouse chimichurri, aioli and grilled chicken. Wow, what a salad. And wow, what an entire meal on it’s own! Very hearty, full of fresh vegetables and delicious!
For mains, we went with Prime Rib on the Bone (400g). Nothing beats good quality beef flame grilled to perfection on the bone to retain maximum flavour and juiciness. It comes with chips or potatoes, but we swapped for some sweet dutch carrots glazed with port and honey.
We also had a half cage of pork ribs that were steaming hot and dripping in their Porterhouse BBQ sauce. The meat was tender and fell easily off the bone. It’s served with one of the best chips in town. Thick cut, salty and crunchy – it will have you reaching for more as you slip into your food coma!
Porterhouse Bar and Grill sure know how to BBQ. They’re cooking up some delicious steaks and ribs, and we know firsthand that they deep fry like a boss! Next time you’re hankering for some good old steak, don’t go past Porterhouse Bar and Grill. If nothing else, drop in one afternoon, order The Sampler and some bevvies and have a jolly good time people watching out on the front terrace.
