Whenever the craving for a good warm plate of pasta hits, Fratelli Fresh is the first place that comes to mind. So what did I crave on a freezing cold and raining Sunday?
Zucchini Flowers Stuffed with 5 Italian Cheeses $4.95 ea
Starting off with a bang were these little cheese presents, brimming with a 5 cheese mix that’s so good it’s a struggle not to order 20 10 of them as a main.
Shaved Brussel Sprouts, Kale, Mushroom & Panchetta Salad $24
A signature Fratelli salad, this beauty combines a fresh green crunch with a rich finish. A poached egg acts like a creamy sauce to mix with the salad.
The aged balsamic pricks up the taste with a little bite, while the shaved reggiano gives a nice saltiness.
Spaghetti with Prawns, Chilli, Garlic, Anchovy and White Wine $25
A beautifully simple pasta with strong flavours that work so well together. The generous scattering of juicy prawns added a meaty touch, while the chilli added a pleasant heat to the mix. Simple, easy, delicious!
4 Cheese Gnocchi with Crisp Sage and Gorgonzola Sauce $28
Oh, so I don’t want to oversell this, but this was THE BEST GNOCCHI DISH I’VE EVER HAD! Too much? Not enough! These fluffy pillows of ricotta were an absolute pleasure to eat. And the sauce they were coated in was just phenomenal.
Mixed Berry Meringata $15.5
Without question, Luke always gets this dessert. No, if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. The organised chaos is a mixture of meringue, cream, fresh berries and mint and always leaves a very satisfied smile on his face.
Formaggio $18.5
For me the cheese plate sounded like a good option, but after a meal like we had, we weren’t expecting how generous the serving was. Perfectly cut into bite sized pieces the plate was filled with three divine cheeses, nuts, fruits and crackers that hit the spot and ended a fantastic meal perfectly.
