If you are looking for a great and authentic Neapolitan pizza in Sydney, Verace Pizzeria is certainly one of the best places.
Verace (which means “True, Genuine, Authentic”) is a pizza restaurant formally recognized by the “Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana” (True Neapolitan Pizza Association); very specific rules must be followed for an authentic Neapolitan pizza.
The centrepiece of Verace is the custom-built wood fired oven which was hand built to order by 3rd Generation oven builder Stefano Ferrara in Naples.
No doubt, Verace is a favourite among the Italian Community in Sydney and lovers of Italian Pizza alike.
Although pizzas are their main feature, Verace offers the typical variety of Italian food, from pasta, risotto, piadine, and the great charcuteries of cold cuts and Italian cheeses.
Strega Cocktail (2 parts Strega, 3 parts Orange Juice and 2 parts Prosecco)
We started off with a very popular Italian Cocktail with Strega liqueur (Liquore Strega) that has been around Italy since 1860. Saffron is a key ingredient in Strega’s signature yellow color and the mint and juniper are two of the most pronounced flavours. Strega is aged in ash barrels to allow the flavors and aromas to beautifully blend.
We opened the Antipasti with this amazing board of freshly sliced Salami, Mortadella and Parma Prosciutto, Provolone cheese and Grana Padano, all accompanied by homemade wood-fired Italian bread and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Our antipasto also included this magnificent plate of freshly prepared salt and pepper Calamari with homemade Aioli. Exquisite!
Mixed salad, Tomatoes, Red onion, Ligurian olives, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Caramelised Balsamic Vinegar.
Mozzarella di Bufala
We finished our antipasto with this scrumptious ball of really fresh Italian Buffalo Mozzarella, enhanced by fresh tomatoes, lettuce and traditional Italian Balsamic Vinegar Glaze. Close your eyes and let it melt in your mouth!
We followed with a selection of fantastic, Neapolitan style cooked pizzas. The ingredients are true to the tradition of Neapolitan pizza cooking: Fresh San Marzano tomato, Fior di Latte Mozzarella, Basil and Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the basis of every (red) pizza. They’re made impeccably and with love.
Verace also offers pizza by the metre, a fun way to enjoy a dinner with family and friends.
The pizzaioli are also very skilled and entertaining as they spin and toss the pizza doughs. Both Mario Martellino and Marco De Marco have won a massive number of Italian, European and World Championships, including 3 gold medals at the Australian Pizza Championships.
Consider making room for this! It’s hard to go wrong with dessert when you get Nutella pizza! Who doesn’t love this sweet creation? Drizzled with sugar and topped with fresh strawberries! You won’t regret it!
Lastly, we tried this Tiramisù (meaning ‘pick me up’), made using authentic homemade ingredients. The mascarpone cheese/cream is really smooth and rich, and the lady finger biscuits have been soaked in just the right amount of coffee so they weren’t too soggy. I suggest pairing it with an espresso or a cappuccino. Definitely made for a delicious end to the night.
Located in Macquarie Park with warm and friendly service, great feel-good food and a fantastic uplifting out-door and indoor atmosphere, you can’t go wrong!
