The majority of Coffee Tank’s trade comes from their large group of loyal customers, who rave about the amazing service and no fuss food.

We consumed three dishes on this visit. The house signature omelette, the acai bowl and their breakfast bruschetta (which was insisted).

The Chef’s Omelette

Made up of spinach, capsicum, tomato and Spanish onion with a nice chunk of haloumi wedged in the middle was a great first dish. Loved the idea of the whole haloumi in the middle as opposed to diced up, as it really changed the textures of the dish. It was not overly salty as haloumi usually tends to be and the chewiness of the cheese, really took the omelette to another level. The vegies in the omelette were also still quite juicy and vibrant.

The Acai bowl

Topped with fresh fruits, muesli, coconut and organic chia seeds. Acai bowls are steadily becoming more and more accessible in Sydney. The challenge for cafes is to ensure that they get the consistency of the Acai right, and also to ensure that the condiments enhance the dish. Coffee Tanks version ticks both categories. The Acai is slightly more chilled than normal, but is still very smooth and full of flavour. The condiments are what really lift the dish. The muesli and chia seeds are slightly warm and when they are combined with the cold Acai, the dish becomes so much more interesting. Definitely high up on the top Acai’s of Sydney list and one of our highlights of the day.

The Breakfast Bruschetta

An interesting take on the normal smashed avocado. The balsamic glaze on this dish was special. Quite citric but not overpowering and definitely complimenting the dish. The avocado and tomatoes were also fresh and quite ripe with the perfect addition of creamy goats cheese.

Coffee Tank use Gabriel beans which have a slightly heavier taste than normal. This however went down a treat and was a great temperature.

They also have a nice selection of pre made foods available to have in or to go.

Overall Coffee Tank is definitely a café worth checking out for it’s friendly service, homely food with attention to detail and also a nice spacious interior for you to relax in.

Ensure you order an Acai bowl, its highly recommended!
