Located in the heart of Sydney’s Little Italy, in the famous Norton Street in Leichhardt, Moretti is a favourite with Sydney’s Italian community and lovers of Italian food alike. This is where to go for a genuine Italian experience, beginning with the friendly Italian staff who make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.
Although Moretti is famous for its Nutella pizza, there is much more here to experience. Their pasta, including Fettuccine, Pappardelle and Ravioli is hand-crafted fresh each morning and their focus on getting only the freshest and best local produce makes this restaurant one of the best in the Italian front.
Aperol Spritz $9.5
We started off in true Italian fashion, with a great Aperol Spritz, a wine-based cocktail originated in Venice, commonly served as an aperitif in Northeast Italy. Aperol, Prosecco Santa Margherita, Soda Water.
Tagliere di Salumi e Gnocco Fritto $23
The Spritz perfectly paired the Charcuterie (genuine Parma Prosciutto imported from Italy, Mortadella and Salame) and Gnocco Fritto antipasto. Good Gnocco Fritto, deep fried dough puffs (a type of bread which is typical of the region of Emilia Romagna in Italy) is very hard to find in Australia. The gnocco fritto at Moretti is the authentic one, really delicious!
Polenta Chips $12.5
Our antipasto also included really delicious deep fried polenta chips enhanced by a drizzling of gorgonzola cheese sauce. So good!
Pizza Margherita $18.5
We followed this with a fantastic Roman style cooked Margherita pizza: thin crusted, wood fired, with just the right amount of fresh quality ingredients, and cooked by an Italian. Doesn’t get any better than that.
Spaghetti allo Scoglio $31.5
The perfect blend of fresh seafood, prawns, vongole & mussels, wine, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and chilli. A really popular choice!
Costolette d’Agnello alla griglia $36.5
These grilled lamb cutlets were scrumptious: marinated in extra virgin olive oil and rosemary, they came with a side of roast potatoes. Fresh quality meat, tender and juicy, just the way lamb cutlets should be.
Lombatina ai Funghi Porcini $38
Lombatina is the Italian equivalent of sirloin. This melt-in-your-mouth dish is a pan fried veal chop, sautéed with porcini mushrooms. A must!
Mille Foglie Rustico $11.50
Mille foglie is the Italian rendition of the French mille-feuille. Being such a popular dessert, I had to try it myself. Drizzled with Nutella and topped with strawberries, the crispy pastry is filled with silky smooth custard.
Panna Cotta ai Frutti di Bosco $12
The luscious, rich and creamy Panna Cotta, served with a sweet and tangy fresh wild berries sauce. Melts in your mouth.
Located right below the Palace Norton Street Cinema, Moretti is also a great place to go before a movie, whether for a dinner or drinks.
Uplifting atmosphere, friendly customer service, authentic and hand-made food, Moretti is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. BYO is also available with a corkage fee of $3.50 per person.
