I’ll start off by saying that I drove about 40 minutes to get here. Along the horrible M5, I was in angst thinking about how this restaurant would be, how it would look, how their customer service would be, and of course, the quality of food. Safe to say, I was very impressed with the overall appearance of the restaurant. But I’ll let you readers continue with the review to see how everything else unfolded.
Starter share plate
A share plate that includes 4 of their most popular ‘starters’. Marinated Meatballs, Sizzling chilli prawns, grilled tandoori chicken bites and their Salt & Pepper calamari. (NB: Meatballs contain 50% wagyu beef & pork). An excellent start to the evening. As you’ll find out (if you order this), they provide little previews of what’s about to come.
This dish is served with the soft and tender Wagyu meatballs from the aforementioned ‘Starter share plate’ alongside a Napolitana sauce tossed through linguini. The potent flavour from the meatballs is complimented very well with Parmesan and basil.
Smokey BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza
Smokey BBQ & Tomato base that gives a tasty zing with their pizza base, topped with fresh herbs and salads such as balsamic onions, parsley, coriander, coleslaw, a lemon wedge and then finished with a drizzle of smokey BBQ sauce and cheese. And of course, how can we forget that oh so soft pulled pork.
Grilled chicken tenderloins
Marinated grilled chicken tenderloins with a side of creamy porcini mushroom sauce and shoe string fries. The chicken has a very sweet honey like glaze that gives it a pleasant aroma. And shoe string chips…Who doesn’t like shoe string chips?
Pumpkin & Sage Ravioli
Easily my favourite dish from the night, it consists of roasted pumpkin and fresh sage stuffed raviolis that are tossed in a creamy butter and sage sauce along with sun-dried tomatoes. Finished with shaved parmesan and roasted pine nuts, the dish gives not only a delicious dining experience, but also satisfying one with the combination of soft roasted pumpkin and crisp pine nuts.
Whether it was the Peanut Butter, Passionfruit, Chocolate or Mango flavoured gelato, Bondi Pizza surprisingly gives a very tasty and consistent spread of flavours that wipe clean and refresh the palette after a strong degustation of their other potent dishes. As a loyal fan of fresh and tropical flavours, Passionfruit would be the obvious choice.
All in all, Bondi Pizza is a great restaurant with great food, customer service and an equally great view. Thank you to our waitress Jenny, for such an enjoyable experience, we couldn’t have gone through all the food without you ordering and scheduling them minutes apart for us to digest. God bless.
I am happy to say that I did not regret taking my friend along with me for this review as it was also her birthday. Being a foodie herself, she also approved of Bondi Pizza. Turns out that treacherous drive along the nightmarish M5 did not go to waste at all!
