Say hello to sea food!
Nestled in the Eden like complex that is Harris Farm Drummoyne is Sydney Fresh Seafood’s RAW BAR. A quality bar style eatery that sits you smack bang in the middle of the action.
You’ll have front row seats to a huge selection of fresh oysters and clams ready to be shucked and shelled out for your eating pleasure.
To this day and for all the raw fish I have eaten in my 26 years, I’ve never eaten swordfish carpaccio and for the life of me, I can’t understand why. Easily ranked #1 on my sashimi/carpaccio list, I was blown away by both the flavour and texture of the meaty fish. This particular slice was from the illustriously tasty belly, giving the firm meat a deliciously tender and silky texture. Bathed in a sweet and tangy sauce, this was a dish I will remember fondly.
St Helens Pacific & Sydney Rock Oysters
We had the privilege of devouring some amazing oysters. Stunning in their half shell after being freshly shucked, my favourite of the two are always the plump and creamy pacific. The smaller Sydney Rock have a sweeter more concentrated taste that went superbly with the pungent vinaigrette.
There’s nothing like freshly cut sashimi! The subtle tastes and sensational texture of the fish stakes it’s claim as one of my favourite things to eat. We got a beautiful selection of Salmon, Kingfish and Trout, each with their own unique flavours and textures. It’s great to see this fine establishment sharing the outstanding freshness and quality of seafood that is privy to them.
On top of delightful sashimi, the skilled chefs are also very apt in sushi, creating these delectable mouthfuls for out eating pleasure. The Seared Scallop was like butter, it’s soft supple meat melting in the mouth.
The Seared Salmon gave the best of both fresh and cooked, contrasting with each bite. To finish with a little kick, the Spicy Prawn added some real excitement to the pallet with it’s pleasant fiery heat.
With incredibly fresh food the words “the simpler, the better” have never rung more true. These giant scampie were simply halved, drizzled with a little garlic and oil, lightly grilled and finished with some chopped shallots. Pulling the meaty tails from the shells, the taste was out of this world. Creamy, soft and moreish, this was pure heaven!
I can’t say I’ve ever had surf clams. Which is a shame as they are so delicious!! The fresh oceany chunks of meat were swimming in a light peppery olive oil, sprinkled with some freshly chopped chives on top. Truly delicious!
Tua Tua Clams
Meaty little mouthfuls with a taste reminiscent of uni. The slices of spring onion really brought out the taste of the sweet clam meat.
Vodka and Beetroot cured salmon
These cured salmon slices were the highlight at the end of a terrific feast. The vodka cured salmon had a delightfully floral and citric flavour while the Beetroot had a sweet earthiness that went perfectly with the rich flavour of the fish.
This was seriously a fantastic meal for us. The sheer quality of the fresh sea fare was easily apparent in the flavour of each mouthful. The friendly service and extensive range makes this place the perfect lunch time location.
