The Bourbon is a Southern New Orleans style bar located in the heart of Potts Point on the infamous Darlinghurst Road. By day, it’s a stylish place for lunch and a drink (or three) and by night it transforms into a gorgeous night time playground. The Bourbon’s makeover is sleek and inviting, great for hosting parties or laid by drinks with mates.
Seafood Platter – Oysters, marinated squid, grilled king prawns, beer batter fish, 1/2 champagne lobster, beer battered chips, creamy tartar sauce.
This all-rounded platter was a MUST for any seafood lover (i.e. me!). The grilled prawns had a lightly smokey taste from the grill, perfect for dunking into the creamy tartar sauce. Whilst the classic beer battered fish and chips were well seasoned, golden and crispy. The oysters were fresh without the dreaded overwhelming smell of brine. Although, the star of the dish would have been the marinated squid topped with fried onion. They weren’t too chewy and overcooked, just perfect soaking in all that flavour.
300gm Wagyu Rump with chips and salad
Perfectly cooked medium rare beef (as requested), tender without being overly chewy and had that anticipated red-pink centre. The piece of meat retained all its juiciness and was released into your mouth with every bite. Chips were lovely, golden and crunchy as they should be!
A special twist on the classic tiramisu by The Bourbon with Jack Daniels Tennessee honey, chocolate and caramel mousse, ginger and sweet mascarpone. This dessert isn’t for the light hearted and I would definitely recommend sharing with a friend because it is very indulgent on the waistline radar. Although, this was really fun to eat, digging my spoon through all the glorious layers.
These SEDUCTIVE southern style doughnuts dusted with cinnamon and accompanied with a pear and apple custard weren’t going to escape me. These were another yummy hands-on dessert to please the crowd.
