Since going earlier last year we have constantly raved about Black by Ezard’s superb dining experience, so when we heard about their Three course champagne lunch with N.V. Perrier Jouet Grand Brut – we simply had to go!
Errrmaagawd this brioche was absolutely insane. Served warm, the soft buttery texture is only made doubly better when you smear copious amounts of butter onto each golden slice.
OYSTERS chilled, freshly opened, red wine vinegar and shallot dressing
Honestly, have you every seen such perfect oysters??? Flawless plump little gems, these beauties were incredibly fresh and creamy. Served with a slice of lemon and a tangy vinaigrette.
BEEF TARTARE heirloom beets, herb mayonnaise, mustard ice cream, puffed wild rice
One of the most beautiful steak tartare’s I’ve ever seen. The tender morsels of hand chopped beef were hidden under a vivid purple paper thin sheet of beetroot. Every element worked so well with the sweet earthiness of the beet to the clean tang of the mustard ice cream.
LAMB RACK roasted, dutch carrots, peas, lettuce, yoghurt, mint sauce
These two thick chops of lamb were incredibly tender, cooked to pink perfection. My favourite bit about lamb chops is literally cleaning the bone of the salty charred fatty bits that hold such an abundance of flavour. The sweetness of the veggies balanced the distinct flavour of the lamb, as did the much appreciated fresh mint sauce.
RIBEYE 400g 30 day dry aged, grain fed angus, roasted cauliflower and pearl onion salad with gremolata
There really isn’t any comparison to a perfectly cooked steak. The richness of the meat and the flavour of the fat as it melts through each juicy bite. Divine! Served on the bone and accompanied by a delicious hunk of roasted cauliflower and onion salad.
MAC & CHEESE three cheese sauce, bacon crumbs

CHOCOLATE warm couverture ganache, hazelnut, mascarpone ice cream, cherry gel, vanilla, amaretto, cookie crumble
Finally on to the sweet stuff and boy were we impressed. What looks like a plain sphere of chocolate is turned into a steaming hot and delicious mess with a simple drizzling of melted chocolate which melts the sphere revealing a delicious mascarpone ice cream centre. Best part of the meal!
SUMMER BERRIES vanilla cream, elderflower, mint sorbet, meringue
To finish, a delightfully fresh summer berries dessert. Full of sweet and tart flavours, this was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
What a fantastic meal! With a continuous stream of delicious food coming our way plus bottomless glasses of Perrier-Jouët this really has to be the highlight of summer so far!
