Bondi Pizza, named after the internationally renowned and famous beach itself, has quickly gained a reputation as one of Sydney’s most popular casual dining restaurants. The perfect destination for casual catch up’s, large family gatherings, romantic dates and seeing as it’s located in Westfield Eastgardens – the perfect break or reward after shopping.
The layout of the restaurant welcomes you with stunning floor to ceiling windows, lighting up the place with a natural vibrance. Able to accommodate for any size group, the restaurant is large with a huge number of tables yet spacious at the same time.
Sizzling Chilli Prawns: Chilli prawns served in a sizzling ‘Hot Pot’ with flat bread and a side of chilli mayo $12.95
The amazing sight of these prawns being delivered to the table on a sizzling hot plate made my eyes light up as much as the delicious garlic aroma set my taste buds off. The prawns where fresh and plump, covered in a spice that added a lovely sensory kick. These were accompanied by some lightly toasted flat bread and a side of chilli dipping sauce made to match.
Arancini Balls: Fried risotto balls with fontina cheese, tomato, herbs and feta served with side of garlic aioli $9.95
The golden fried Arancini balls were packed with flavour with the smooth yet zingy taste of the garlic aioli. Each bite oozed cheesy goodness with a rich taste of tomato, herbs and feta gloriously following after.
Stuffed Mushrooms: Goats cheese, lemon zest and parsley stuffed mushrooms with a parmesan crust served on a bed of rocket and drizzled with a balsamic glaze $9.95
The textures of soft, creamy and crunchy can be experienced all at once, in one mouth full from these stuffed mushrooms. The earthy buttery taste from the mushrooms, creaminess of the Goats cheese and the tartness from the lemon zest and parsley offered a truly delectable experience.
Signature Pizza – Marinated Char Grilled Lamb: Tender marinated lamb backstap fillet, fetta, balsamic onions, roma tomatoes, rocket, sweet potato crisps and creamy Caesar sauce (Individual $13.95, Regular $25.95)
This pizza is listed under Bondi Pizza’s signature pizza section for good reason. The thin crispy base was generously topped with an innovative combination of fresh, mouth-watering toppings. The balance of flavours was amazing with tender char-grilled slices of lamb, refreshing tomatoes and peppery rocket. The sweet potato crisps are not there for decoration, their crunchiness also contributes to the remarkable texture. To tie all these ingredients together, creamy Caesar sauce is swirled throughout the pizza.
Grilled Atlantic Salmon: Grilled Atlantic salmon with a side of creamy Caesar sauce, fried capers and a lemon wedge served with shoe string fries and green salad $27.95
The grilled salmon was incredibly tender as one press of my fork sent it falling apart. It had the perfect amount of fat, keeping the fillet moist and creamy. Accompanying this was a generous bowl of shoe string fries and a fresh, lightly dressed salad.
Dessert Share Plate: Oven-baked Apple Crumble Pizzette, Chocolate Brownie Swirls, Belgian Chocolate Fruit Fondue and Triple Chocolate Brownie served with warmed melted Belgian chocolate and vanilla ice cream. $22.95
This share plate of Bondi Pizza’s four most popular desserts was quite overwhelming with so much to choose from, I didn’t know where to start. Catering to all dessert lovers from fresh and fruity to full blown chocoholic. If you’re after something a little light, the fruit and marshmallows with warm melted Belgian chocolate dipping sauce is for you. One step further you asked? The Apple crumble with a flaky crust, topped with chunks of fruit is a winner.
Or how about going slightly naughty with the chocolate brownie swirls, pick it up…tear it apart and really get into it! Now that you have gone this far, there’s no turning back. To finish it all off with the ultimate satisfaction is their triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream on the side to leave you very content.
Regardless of how you’re feeling or how your day has been, this shared plate will most definitely put a smile on your face. However, keep in mind that this is a shared plate, the main intention of this dish is to give you a tease of everything. The perfect plate to order if you’re indecisive and want to try a bit of everything.
Let’s be honest, if the food didn’t grab your attention, the independent bar will. Offering an endless selection of cocktails, ciders, wines and locally produced and imported beers.
