The Harbour Rocks (one of Accor Hotels flagship MGallery hotels), has transformed what was once an antique souvenir shop into a vintage-inspired, French themed creperie called Creperie Suzette.
This classy, vintage space serves up all your crepes, galettes and coffee needs, dishing out seven different savoury and seven different sweet crepes to choose from with all ingredients sourced locally.
Aiming for a true and authentic French experience, their equipment including their crepe hot plates have been specially brought into Australia from Paris, to create the very best French dish.
In addition to their crepes and galettes, they serve a delicious range of tea and coffee, souring their coffee beans from Double Roasters coffee in Marrickville.
Using only the highest quality and locally sourced ingredients, Buckwheat flour is used for the batter to maximise the taste and nutritional content. Along with Pepe Saya butter, free range eggs and hand-harvested sea salt to make up the remaining core batter ingredients.
The Galette’s are then crisped up on the hot pan and folded into a pillow so that all the ingredients stay together. All assembled right in front of you, so you can see your meal being created right before your eyes.
La Complete: Ham, matured cheddar cheese and egg $13
Starting with a classic breakfast option, this crepe was a blend of ham, matured cheddar cheese and a soft runny egg. It was especially delicious and I was delighted at how the soft and creamy inner combination was encased by the crispy outer layers.
La Tasmanienne $15
Their signature range of galettes include this beauty. Smoked Tasmanian salmon, capers, crème fraiche and fresh dill. Oh my.
La Pekinoise: Peaking duck, spring onion, matured cheddar cheese and Hoisin sauce $15
This crepe contained juicy tender chunks of duck, the sharpness of spring onions with the boldness of the Hoisin sauce. A perfect match.
Don’t think we’ve forgotten all the sweet tooths at there! You guys can rest easy knowing Nutella crepes are on the menu. As well as the following delicious creations.
La Caramel Au Beurre Sale: Salted caramel, slivered almonds and Ice Cream $14
This may be a small looking crepe but it sure packs a punch. The drizzled caramel provided the sweet and saltiness to the already warmed crepe. A dollop of ice-cream is added to completed the package.
La Franise: Fresh strawberries, dark chocolate sauce, double cream and walnuts $15
If you’re after sweet, crunchy and chocolate – then this is the crepe for you. With just one slice, the thick dark chocolate and double cream oozes out onto the plate. The combination of crunchy walnuts, fresh strawberries and rich chocolate all packed within a single crepe really hits the spot.
General Manager for Harbour Rocks Hotel, Dylan Cole, said since opening Creperie Suzette there has been a steady stream of people lining up for their morning coffee and lunch time galette. “It has been a vision of our owners Bob and Ruth Magid to turn the old souvenir shopfront into an intimate space which can be enjoyed by guests of Harbour Rocks Hotel and the local community – and what has been achieved is nothing short of perfection. It is not only the surrounds which people love, it is the quality of the crepes and galettes which is seeing return visitors. One of our missions was to focus on quality, locally sourced produce and authentic service and it is great to see so many people enjoying what we’ve created.”
