Nestled in the midst of the ever bustling Marrickville, Beejays Cafe and Wine Bar is a trendy and welcoming little establishment that’s hitting the mark on quality food in a cool, casual environment.
Boasting a delicious menu including all day breakfast (I know, I love it too), killer coffee, groovy decor and a sun soaked courtyard, it’s no wonder why locals love this place.
Middle Eastern Breakfast
A modern spin on a classic shakshuka, this was a really hearty and comforting dish. The rich tomato and spiced mince was absolutely divine. I scooped up every single morsel with the sourdough, cleaning my plate and putting a smile on my (and I’m sure the dish boy’s) face.
Tabouleh Eggs $15
A great dish full of Middle Eastern flavours. Served with zaatar sourdough, the freshness of the tabouleh really accentuated the richness of the perfectly poached eggs, and together with the grilled haloumi and generous splodge of hummus made for a very pleasing breaky.
You definitely smell this dish before you see it. The intense earthy aroma of truffle is all consuming as you devour this fluffy scramble. The fresh rocket and tomato bring a nice freshness, with the shaved parmesan boosting flavour.
If breakfast isn’t your thing, Beejays have an awesome lunch menu, including this mouth watering cheeseburger. Delicious in all it’s simplicity, this baby has a juicy beef pattie, jack cheese, mustard, tomato sauce and finished with pickles and a side of fries.
Classic. Delicious. Perfect.
Open Steak Sandwich $13
What a beautiful sight this was! The generous sandwich fillings spilling out in all their glory. The steak was tender and juicy and perfect with the melted jack cheese, caramelised onion and crisp sweet potato. I’ve always found steak sandwiches too cumbersome to eat, but this one flew into my mouth with delicious ease.
Beejays interior showcases exposed brick, 50s art and 70s cassettes and LPs creating a quirky and funky setting. In addition, one of their popular services is the “call before arrival”, allowing you to dial in your order and avoid the wait.
Beejays has a charm that’s missed in so many Sydney establishments. It’s hip and cool yet still open and welcoming. Their killer menu is absolute quality stuff that’ll definitely have me back as a return customer.
