Never have we met anyone more passionate about wine. And if we didn’t know anything about biodynamic wine beforehand, we sure did by the time we left!
David Lowe, the man behind it all L has been working in the wine industry since the age of 15, so he has wine making in his blood (I wouldn’t be surprised if there was wine in his veins). He’s a wine consultant, a regular wine industry commentator, an accredited wine show judge and a passionate supporter of smart farming, rural land custodianship and regionalism and is the recipient of the 2013 Graham Gregory Award for his contribution to the NSW Wine Industry. Following this, in 2014, Wine Communicators of Australia awarded David the 2014 Legend of the Vine Award.
David specialises in small batch wine making using innovative techniques were his vineyards are untrellised, unirrigated and certified organic. So what does this all mean? Basically it means that there is no nasty or harsh chemicals going into your wine, from grape to bottle, the whole process is undertaken with respect for the wine. Everything is produced using natural products, even down to the compost with the rest left to mother nature.
It was easy to see why David is so passionate and after a glass or two you’ll understand. The wines are clean tasting and full of natural aromas and flavours. On top of that, Lowes Wines is a great place to visit. Large, spacious with plenty of seating, this family friendly venue boasts a mini animal farm for the kids, wine tasting for the adults and lovely food platters if you feel like a little knosh with your wine.
