Located in Double Bay lies the sophisticated Char and Co. Don’t let the romantic dim lighting fool you, this South American Steakhouse is super friendly, inviting and child friendly. They’ve recently launched their new winter menu featuring a new delicious range of meat cuts alongside great sharing dishes.
Simplicity at it’s best – Mixed Olives and Spiced Crispy Pork Crackling.
A delicious charcuterie board by Spanish La Boqeria serving Serrano Ham, Spicy Moroccan Sausage, Longaniza, Blanca Salami, with House-Made Condiments with Pickles.
Wood Fire Baked Provolone
The truffled topped baked provolone was definitely one of my personal favourites. To put it simply, on the slice of bread, it was like a gourmet cheese toasty that keeps you coming back for more.
Tempura Batter Jalepeno Poppers with Roast Corn, Goats Cheese and Chipotle Aioli
This chicken-wing-shaped jalepenos had a great crunch from the tempura batter and had a lovely spicy kick to them, but still great for those that can’t take too much heat.
Salted Cod Fritters, Lime, Fish Crackling served with Wasabi Mayo
The salted cod fritters were thoroughly enjoyable. Golden brown with a real crunch, I appreciated that they weren’t over powering fishy and went great with the tangy lime and wasabi mayo.
Yellow Fin Tuna Belly Ceviche, Avocado Mousse, Cassava Crisps, Grapefruit Segments and Baby Herbs.
Ceviche has recently become one of my favourite side dishes because I’m a huge fan of raw fish. So these little servings in cones help feed my obsession. The tuna pieces were well seasoned with bursts of citrus from the grapefruit and added creaminess from the avocado.
Moqueaca Northern Brazil Curry
This comforting creaminess of the Moqueaca Northern Brazil Curry with the local caught Barramundi, tiger prawns, mussels, coconut, coriander and chilli broth was a heart warming dish, great for Sydney’s harsh winter weather. The rice was topped with peanuts and crispy onion for a great texture contrast against the smooth curry.
Oyster Mushroom Risotto
Risotto has always been one of my favourite dishes with its comforting texture. This particular risotto featured shiitake and oyster mushrooms, which brought the risotto to another level, adding a earthy woody aroma and taste. I was almost upset that I had to share this with the table. One of my personal favourites for the night.
