We all enjoy our burgers with a glass of beer or cider but what about burgers and wine?! The New Zealand Mud House winery has teamed up with a city favourite, Chur Burger, to offer decadent $20 meal deals including 4x specialty burgers, accompanied by a side and a glass of Mud House Wine. We were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the month-long burger schedule where we had a taste of the Mud House wines and mini Chur Burger sliders.
The Mud House wines available include the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, South Island Pinot Gris and the Central Otago Pinot Noir. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 wines as they were so refreshing on the palette and definitely complemented the Chur burgers.
The crispy pork belly with cherry gastrique, baby gem and fennel mayo was my favourite burger with super juicy flavours and tender pork. It is recommended to match with the Pinot Noir which helps to bring out the sweetness in the cherry gastrique balanced with the big chunk of salty pork belly. Like all Chur burgers, the soft brioche buns are a crowd favourite and the rich filling definitely complemented its lightness.
Recommended to match with the Pinot Gris were the Goats curd croquettes with maple glazed bacon and apple, pear and green chilli salsa, this was like brunch in a burger, and it was delicious! I’m a huge fan of croquettes and this was no exception being crispy on the outside and so soft it melted in my mouth on the inside. The salsa was both creamy and refreshing without it being heavy on the starch. The bits of maple glazed bacon was such a surprising delight and I mean who could resist anything that has bacon?!
Head to Chur Burger before 15 July to satisfy your burger cravings with a side of wine.
