The Tea Room at the Queen Victoria Building hosted a Mad Hatter Tea party to celebrate being announced as one of the Top 5 venues in Australia to host a gala dinner. And we were invited!
My first tea party was with Mr. Cuddles and friends with my new primary coloured tea set. It’s safe to say that the Tea Room brings every little girl’s dream to reality.
You can’t have a Mad Hatter tea party without the eccentric ‘Mad Hatter’
GPG Founder/CEO Manny Spinola said – “To be announced as one of the best venues in Australia to host a gala dinner is such an honour to the team and I! Wednesday night (April 29th) really gave us the opportunity to celebrate our success with our valued clients and have a bit of fun!”
The Tea Room doesn’t fall short in creating the prime atmosphere, completely furnished with decorative walls, high rise ceilings, hanging chandeliers, a long grand table filled with finger sandwiches and to finish it off, a live harpist.
Absolem’s Creaming Soda
A concoction of South African Roobios tea mixed wih orange zest, Bacardi, Cointreau and lemonade.
Spinach and gruyere cheese puffs, Goat Cheese and beetroot tart, Potato tortilla with jamon serrano, red capsicum and caper salsa
A small bite of creamy gruyere cheese and spinach amongst flakey pastry is always a delight. The flavour of the beetroot was great in giving the flavour an extra kick in the midst of the goat’s cheese. The texture of the tortilla was reminiscent of a gourmet condensed hash brown due to the cut of the potatoes and was lovely with the addition of red capsicum and caper salsa.
Well isn’t this just delightful…
We were lucky enough to get the head pastry chef to teach us a few tips and tricks about making the ever-raging macarons.
I got to try piping those babies myself and it’s safe to say, I better leave it to the professionals. Between the two of us, we piped the filling for spiced apple, chocolate and strawberry macrons
The initial light crunch is a great contrast against the gooey filling fulfilling anyone’s sweet tooth!
“Forever timeless, in the heart of the city.”
